Kingston RFC takes the trophy in this year's Dragon Boat Challenge in Kingston

Kingston RFC entered a team in this years Dragon Boat race in Kingston. Skippered by Richard Darby-Dowman, the team breezed through the three heats, winning them all with only a couple of tense near-capsize moments! We even beat the 'professional' dragon boat side who race every week by 200th of a second! The Kingston boat also had to make do with a boat of only 14 oarsmen as apposed to the other teams who were able to field the full 16 — our boat was too heavy and the official looking guy on the rudder felt we would sink!!! For those that haven't been down to training yet...take that advice constructively! You know who you are!!!
The top six teams out of the forty went through to the final and in a nail biting finish, Kingston were neck and neck on the line with the pro Dragon Boat team. Off to the analysis of the photo finish and a tense announcement was awaited at the bandstand.
The judgement was made that the Pro team had edged it by 0.2secs, but due to their expertise in the sport, they gallantly conceded the award and it was presented to Kingston RFC as non-dragon boater winners!
A cracking effort lads...and great effort by Grace on the drums keep the boys in time! Another trophy for the cabinet.
